Privacy
Starlane is a browser game. Practice is free. Paid packs are one-time Stripe Checkout purchases that credit flight attempts in this browser.
Strictly necessary
The starlane_play cookie (HttpOnly) and a local pack token keep your remaining flights in this browser. One free scored flight per browser is remembered with an HttpOnly starlane_device cookie. These are functional storage, not marketing cookies. Discarding a pack or letting it expire clears the play cookie. The device cookie only stops a second free scored flight.
Payments
Checkout runs through Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe, not by Starlane. We store a claim secret and session reference only long enough to credit your pack after payment.
Analytics
When Google Tag Manager is enabled, the site may load GTM (GTM-5T8MT9NW) and send events to Google Analytics 4 (G-N208HBZN57). Analytics storage stays denied until you Accept on the cookie banner. If you already accepted, the next visit starts with measurement on. Reject keeps measurement off. We do not send play tokens, claim secrets, Stripe client secrets, share text, or display names in analytics events. If you open a shared flight, a challenge link, or a campaign link such as Product Hunt, this browser remembers those campaign parameters and sends them only after you Accept. Sharing a run opens the device share sheet or copies the text and link you chose. The score card page is public for 30 days. Analytics for it only record that a challenge was opened or started, and whether the flight used the same track.
Death clips
A clip of your ending is made in this browser from your own flight, up to 15 seconds. The video shows your ship, your distance, the fail line from that crash, and starlane.run. If that flight lands on the leaderboard, the ending can also say your place, or that there is a new king. It does not include other players' names. The file stays on this device until you download it or hand it to the share sheet. We do not upload the video.
Display names
The name you enter is shown on the public leaderboard when you submit a paid flight. It is not used as an analytics user id.
